José Steck Monteza

José Steck Monteza is a founding partner of Steck, Tapia, Collantes Abogados and has more than 17 years of experience in Construction Law, Civil Law and, especially, in national and international arbitration.

He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations related to various types of infrastructure projects.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in National and International Arbitration (American Chamber of Commerce and Universidad del Pacífico, 2010) and completed a Specialization Program in International Arbitration and Investment Arbitration (American Chamber of Commerce and Universidad del Pacífico, 2016).

He has served as Arbitral Secretary at the Arbitration Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (2011–2012) and since April 2018 he has been part of the Register of Arbitrators of the Arbitration Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce; likewise, he is registered as an arbitrator with the Center for Analysis and Resolution of Disputes of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (since April 2019), in the Register of Arbitrators of the Arbitration Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Arequipa (since January 2020), and in the Register of Arbitrators of CAM – Arbitration Center of Mexico (since September 2019).

In addition to his arbitral work, José advises on the drafting and negotiation of contracts (G2G, NEC, FIDIC) and on the management of Dispute Boards, providing a comprehensive vision of contractual disputes.

He is a professor and speaker at various universities and congresses on construction law and arbitration, and collaborates actively with associations such as the Rising Arbitrators Initiative, the Arbitration Commission of the International Chamber of Commerce – Peru, and Peruvian Young Arbitrators.
